Even from the perspective of some of the creatures that were present, it was rather horrifying. After then, the book takes us on detours into the future (a year from now, a hundred years from now, a thousand years from now, etc.) to see how life has continued to flourish. It covered more than just dinosaurs and mammals; it also covered insects, plants, and other types of life.
